Drive-Through Recycling

Twenty years ago a grass-roots local group, White Lake Recyclers, implemented a recycling program in the White Lake area. Thanks to their efforts, the White Lake Area recycling program has continued to develop in the past two decades, but the MasterTag Green Team recognizes further opportunity to grow the program. For example, Montague’s schools do not recycle, and Montague residents must gather and take their recyclables to the area transfer station - which is only open afternoons two days a week - because limited curbside pick-up is offered. The Montague Recycling Program needs a more efficient sorting center, increased community awareness and access, and a robust support system for the employees providing the services.
Our Green Team proposes using your $20,000 within the next year to install a recycling drop-off point near the Montague High School and refining the White Lake Transfer Station drop-off point to include a recycling drive-through, where community citizens can quickly and efficiently unload their newspaper, plastic, metal, cardboard, glass, used oil, and appliances. Montague is ready for the next small step to encourage increased community participation.
